More Good News on Tuesday

We've known for a while that the Bruins are hosting the Winter Classic at Fenway Park on New Years' Day 2010. Normally this would be held at Gillette, but the NHL is concerned that the Patriots will be in the playoffs, as they usually are. It takes about 2 weeks to set up and take down the rink, so with the Pats likely to have home field advantage throughout, the Razor is not an option. Fenway will have to do. This sucks as there are half as many seats and probably double the demand, which will drive ticket prices through the roof.

Multiple NHL sources have indicated that the likely opponent, long rumored to be the Ovechkins, is now almost positively the Broad Street Bullies. Other than Montreal, this was the matchup I wanted. The Flyers have no goalie or defense to stop the B's from lighting the lamp multiple times, and there is plenty of bad blood between the two franchises and cities.

I'm going to pay whatever it takes to go to this game. Early prediction: Bruins win 4-1 and Lucic exacts revenge for the Bergeron hit in 2007.
